Social Work Club Spotlight!

Here at the Benedict College Social Work Department, a commitment to service to the community is a long-standing tradition that we are proud of. From student participation in the Phi Alpha Honor Society, the CABSW (Columbia chapter of the National Association of Black Social Workers), to our oldest student group, the Social Work Club, our students and faculty epitomize social work’s commitment to improving the well-being of communities via service.

Today’s spotlight is the Social Work Club, led by faculty advisor Prof. Brenda Clark, and their volunteer effort at Carver-Lyon Elementary School on December 8th, 2017. That morning, the Club delivered healthy “snack packs” to students as a special holiday service project. The club has been active this year with projects ranging from toy and healthy food drives, to volunteerism at various events across the city of Columbia. Thank you Social Work Club for all that you do! Thank you for representing the #BestOfBC!
