Mission

The Office of the Registrar and Student Records (ORSR) serves as an integral part of the educational process, providing administrative services that support the college’s academic activities and the efficient maintenance of its student systems. The office is committed to the accurate documentation and preservation of student records, ensuring careful adherence to college and regulatory policies. We strive to provide the highest quality of customer service and performance to all constituents, including students, alumni, faculty, staff, administrators, and off- campus partners in support of the vision and mission of Benedict College.

The office is open every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1:00pm-4:00pm for document pickup and other in-person needs. However, staff remain available via e-mail and phone throughout the standard campus office hours of Mon-Fri, 8:30am – 5:00pm. In addition, the most frequently utilized services can be requested via the Tiger Portal (see below), with most submissions being processed and completed within 24 hours – without the need to visit the office.

Student and Alumni Services

The Office of the Registrar and Student Records serves as the official repository for student academic records and documentation of instructional activities. The office serves current students and alumni by providing the following services:

Maintaining Student Profiles The ORSR seeks to maintain accurate contact and demographic information for current students and alumni. Students are encouraged to update phone numbers, addresses, emails, and other personal information to ensure timely contact and accurate reporting. Change of Name Form

Verifying Student Enrollments The ORSR ensures the accurate maintenance of student course history, including semesters of enrollment, grades, academic honors or sanctions, and degree conferral. Current students can request letters verifying attendance, full-time/part-time status, academic program information and residential status. Former students who no longer have access to the Tiger Portal may purchase a transcript (below) or National Student Clearinghouse’s Degree Verify service. Adjusting Student Enrollments All enrollment adjustments made after the registration census date require the assistance of the ORSR, including course withdrawals, semester withdrawals, and requests for Incomplete grades. Course Withdrawals

Updating Academic Programs Students can request changes to their academic programs (majors, minors, catalogue year) via the Tiger Portal. Change of Major/Minor

Evaluating Transfer Credits The ORSR transcribes all transfer credits in student transcripts. In addition, students should request pre-approval of transfer hours to ensure Benedict’s acceptance before enrolling in transient courses at other institutions. Transient Enrollment Approval
Maintaining and Issuing Student Transcripts Unofficial or official transcripts are now ordered through www.Parchment.com. Transcript fees begin at $10.00 plus processing and mailing fees.  Students with outstanding balances are ineligible to receive student transcripts and may request a refund of transcript payment within 30 days from the date of request. When requesting documents, please use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Transcript Request - Parchment (Current students can also view their unofficial transcript in the Tiger Portal – Students tab.)
Certifying Graduates and Issuing Diplomas Replacement diplomas are now ordered through www.Parchment.com.  The fee is $60.00 + $3.95 processing fee to Parchment.  When requesting documents, please use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Request for Duplicate Diploma

Recording FERPA Waivers The Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records in institutions that receive funding from the US Department of Education. Once a student turns 18 or attends school beyond secondary school, the rights of access to the student’s records transfer to the student. All academic information regarding the student goes directly to the student, unless the student has given specific, written permission to release that information to someone else. FERPA Waiver
Protecting Access to Student Directory Information In accordance with section 99.7 of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Benedict College has designated the following items as Directory Information, available for release to third parties at the discretion of the college unless a written request for non-disclosure has been submitted by the student.
