News 19 Teacher of the Week: Keisha Randle – WLTX.com

Keisha Randle is the type of educator that can captivate hearts and minds quickly.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Keisha Randle always knew she wanted to be a teacher.

“Teaching has always been something that I’ve been passionate about,” said Randle. “My mom was a teacher and I spent a lot of time with her in her classrooms.”

Currently Randle is a third grade teacher at Joseph Keels Elementary School in Richland District Two. Her students have spent the last few weeks getting ready for their end of year examinations.

“We’re working on Rosa Parks in reading,” said Mark Wilson. “We’re annotating and figuring out words we didn’t know.”

Students like Mark Wilson say they’re not worried about the standardized test, because their teacher has prepared them well.

As a transfer student, Alicia Frederick didn’t know what to expect when she moved to her new school.

“Learning can be difficult sometimes,” Frederick said. “But, Ms. Randle makes me feel like she’s always in my corner.”

It was Frederick’s mom who wrote in to nominate Ms. Randle as the News 19 Teacher of the Week. An honor this first year educator never expected so early on in her career.

“I try to be the best teacher that I can be and do what’s best for my students,” said Randle. “This is like a pat on the back.”
If you know a teacher who deserves to be recognized for their hard work in the classroom you can nominate them by emailing us at TOW@WLTX.COM.
