Message from the Chairman of the Board of Trustees

Dear Supporters of Benedict College,

The 20/20 Bipartisan Justice Center has selected Benedict College as the Historically Black College and University (HBCU) host site-location for the 2019 Second Step Presidential Justice Forum (PJF). As has been shared, Allen University served as the 2015 HBCU host site-location for the PJF Forum.

This historic bipartisan event will focus on the critical issue of Criminal Justice Reform.  The PJF is co-sponsored by the National Black Police Association, African American Mayors Association, National Black Caucus, National Black Caucus of State Legislators and City of Columbia Mayor Stephen K. Benjamin.

The PJF provides a great opportunity for our students to gain valuable knowledge about our nation’s democracy and the bipartisanship process. It will also afford them the opportunity to witness legislators engage in an important discussion about a nationwide issue in a positive setting. A setting where diversity of thought and ideas are welcomed with the prospective goal of transforming those ideas into substantive change.

For over 18 years, it has been my esteemed honor to serve as Chairman of the Benedict College Board of Trustees. This event is added to the many points of pride that I associate with this great institution. Let us all continue to uphold the founding principles of Benedict College by showing up as a “Power for Good” in support of the 20/20 Bipartisan Justice Center Second Act Presidential Justice Forum.

Sincerely,

Charlie W. Johnson
Chairman
Benedict College Board of Trustees
