The Benedict College Center for Cybersecurity congratulate Chase Wise, Ethan Wise, and the Kelly Mills Middle School team for emerging victorious and twinning 1st place in the 2020-2021 eCYBERMISSION National STEM Research Competition. Both Chase and Ethan have regularly participated in various Benedict College Cybersecurity camps and workshops over the past four years. In addition, the Center for Cybersecurity provided several coding resources to Kelly Mills Middle STEM for student engagement. A huge congratulations goes out to Mr. Warren Wise and his STEM teachers for their efforts in preparing students for success. Mr. Wise is an alumnus of Benedict College and currently a lead cyber instructor with the Benedict College Center for Cybersecurity.

This is a competition sponsored by the Department of Defense–the Army Educational Outreach Program. These four students conducted research on how to sanitize a facemask using UV lighting and a home disinfectant aerosol spray (LYSOL) while creating a robot that was programmed to do this autonomously. This was a true team effort that started back in August 2020 and officially ended this month for Team Black Lightning! Each student will receive a $1,000 U.S. Series EE Savings Bond.

Again, congratulations! We are very proud of you and your sponsors, Warren Wise, Tameka Staley, and Xandra Farmer, for achieving this distinguished recognition.
