Position Description and Responsibilities:

The Music Program is seeking a dynamic teacher and accomplished performer with expertise in a wide range of percussion genres. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate Applied Percussion, Percussion Ensemble, Music Theory (and other courses as assigned relating to applicant’s expertise). Responsibilities also include preparing students for recitals and local competitions. The competitive candidate should maintain an active regional and national performance schedule, active participation in appropriate pedagogical and creative organizations, a commitment to student recruitment and retention; and commitment to creative, scholarly, service, and community activities appropriate in academe. This faculty member will maintain 10 office hours per week for student access and inquiry.

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters or Terminal Degree in Percussion
  • College or university-level teaching experience in Applied Percussion
  • Demonstrated ability to teach diverse musical styles, emphasizing the standard classical repertoire while including popular styles, as appropriate

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • teach assigned courses
  • participate in course and curriculum design and program review
  • participate in college committees
  • provide academic advising to music students
