INSTRUCTOR OF ENGLISH, FULL-TIME, NON-TENURE-TRACK

BASIC FUNCTIONS:


This is a full-time position, 9-month academic year, tenure-track, beginning August 1, 2022.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Communication and Arts Department in the School of Arts and Sciences at Benedict College is seeking applicants for the position at the rank of Instructor in the English Program. The successful candidate will have a primary responsibility for full-time teaching, academic advising, academic service, and scholarly activities in discipline-related research and/or professional service. The instructional load will come from General Education English core courses. The successful candidate is expected to complete the eCollege Certification Training Course; to design web-based learning modules for virtual learning and in-person instruction aligned with Quality Matters standards; and to engage in assessment of student learning outcomes.  In line with the transformational experiences at Benedict College, and in this role, the successful candidate will be committed in assisting the English faculty to increase the number of English majors for the English Program; and to assist the English faculty in developing connections with the English Advisory Council to support English majors for new and emerging careers related to the bachelor’s degree in English.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The successful candidate must possess an earned master’s degree in English, or a closely related discipline with 18 graduate hours in English.  For the rank of a regular, non-tenure-track appointment to the Faculty, the successful candidate will not generally meet the scholarship obligation.
