JOB TITLE: Administrative Assistant                                     DIVISION: Division of Academic Affairs

SUPERVISOR’S TITLE: Director of Student Success Center

DEPARTMENT: Student Success Center

BASIC FUNCTIONS: This position is responsible for providing administrative services for three units: Student Success Center, the Honors Program, and the Office of Accessibility Services. Under general supervision, the administrative assistant performs a variety of office duties and manages the physical environment of the Student Success Center.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY

  • General office management
  • Preparation of meeting minutes and reports
  • Coordination of schedules and calendars for staff
  • Budget management and entry of requisitions in the purchasing system
  • Coordination of travel for staff and students
  • Assisting with department communications
  • Providing support to the three units (Student Success Center, Office of Accessibility Services, and Honors Program) to include assemblies and academic competitions (e.g. HONDA and Debate Team)
  • Maintaining database of activities related to student support and accommodation services
  • Monitoring and responding to student and faculty requests for information and assistance
  • Maintaining and tracking utilization logs of student events and other activities within the three units
  • Coordination of the BC Clothing Closet; responsible for weekly inventory, compiling end of the year spreadsheet, and establishing consistent dates to serve Benedict students
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with student management and early alert systems/tools
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively digitally communicate through new media, including social network sites (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with a variety of computer applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Efficient organizational skills
  • Ability to anticipate and respond to emerging needs of students, staff, and various units

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or minimally an associate degree with at least three years of post-graduation work experience in school or higher education setting
  • Demonstrated technology proficiency (timed work sample will be required)
