JOB TITLE:    Accelerator Program Director

SUPERVISOR’S TITLE: Accelerator Executive Director

DIVISION:       Academic Affairs

DEPARTMENT: Burroughs School of Business & Entrepreneurship

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

Under the general direction of the Accelerator Executive Director, the Program Director serves as the operations manager for the accelerator program.  Specifically, s/he will oversee programmatic direction for the Investment Accelerator and provides leadership, strategic planning, and alumni support. Responsible for managing the Program Manager including supporting program operations, partner relationships, and general Program Manager support as needed. This includes, but is not limited to, recruiting, vetting, and advising startups, planning and executing programs, reviewing milestones and performance metrics, and building collaborative relationships with partners, sponsors, investors, and other key stakeholders.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Lead program team for the delivery of the accelerator program
  • Recruit, vet, and advise startup founders for inclusion in the accelerator program
  • Oversee an inclusive startup selection process, including the development and management of the selection committee
  • Launch each cohort, lead program team, and monitor and report on startups’ progress
  • Work with subject-matter experts and identify and develop partner, sponsor, and investor relationships for the accelerator program
  • Build a strong mentor and technical expert network to support the program’s startups
  • Ensure needs of participants are monitored and well-anticipated through the process
  • Maintain project documentation (e.g., milestones, performance metrics), cohort information, directories, and documentation for potential investors
  • Lead creation of support and training documents for users of accelerator program
  • Follow progress of project work and address issues as they arise
  • Help evaluate the needs of participants in order to scale, and advise and connect them with the necessary resources
  • Assess and monitor best practices of accelerators to assess program and identify potential upgrades
  • Monitor and iterate program design to ensure value to participants
  • Other duties as assigned by Accelerator Executive Director

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • MS Office Suites
  • Presentation Skills
  • Writing Skills

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with significant experience working directly with accelerators or incubators helping companies scale, or within startups helping them scale (Founder or COO who’s scaled a growth stage company, run a growth-stage accelerator, VC principal/senior associate, etc.)
  • Founder-friendly approach and knowledge of the entrepreneurial ecosystem
  • Coaching mindset, experience supporting others as they build great companies, and building community between companies so they can support each other
  • Excellent public speaking skills and ability to smoothly manage large events
  • Proven project management in lean, complex, fast-paced environments
  • Strong global network of partners in entrepreneurship, innovation, and life sciences
  • Execution-focused with a sense of urgency, solutions orientation, and resourcefulness
  • Strong time management skills, team leadership, and executive presence

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience building a significant program from scratch (or formative stage) that engages third party service providers to improve the capacity of participants
  • Experience in the life science industry
