Benedict College Weather Updates: Hurricane Florence

UPDATE: Tuesday, September 11, 2018, 2:30 p.m.

 

In response to the recent State of Emergency for the State of South Carolina, the Benedict College Emergency Preparedness team has been and will continue to monitor the forecast for Hurricane Florence. Our goal is to coordinate with local and state agencies to provide accurate updates to ensure your safety and the security of the campus.

The following are the updates and notifications for Benedict College students, faculty and staff as of 2:30 p.m (EST):

Campus Schedule

  • Classes and Business Offices:  Today (9/11/18), Effective 11 a.m.- Benedict College is Closed Until Further Notice

Dining Halls

Although classes will be canceled, essential services like dining and the student health center remain open. The Dining Hall schedule will follow the weekend schedule.

  • Breakfast 7 a.m. – 10 a.m.
  • Lunch 11 noon – 1 p.m.
  • Dinner 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Weekend

  • Brunch 10 a.m. – 1: 30 p.m.
  • Dinner 4 p.m. – 5: 30 p.m.

Evacuation

After consulting with local and state agencies, Benedict students who live in campus housing, and have the ability to evacuate are encouraged to do so today (TODAY). Please notify your Community Life Coordinator (CLC) of your plans to evacuate and ensure that all of your emergency contact information, including your cell number, is updated before departing campus.

Students who live in campus housing and are not able to evacuate, please contact your CLC ASAP.   All Benedict students must contact your parents/guardians and notify them of your plans.

Please know that we are dedicating all available resources to student safety and welfare. Over the past several days, we have been in constant communication with city, county and state officials and putting appropriate plans into place.
