African American Women's Organization
This organization is instrumental in leading, developing, and advocating leadership. This illustrious organization was founded on December 5, 1935 by Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. In October 1989 with the help of Dr. Alma W. Byrd, the Benedict - Byrd Section became the first collegiate section across the nation. The Benedict - Byrd Section won Organization of the Year 2006-2007 for its community and school involvement.
