Dancers' Etiquette

Clothing
Proper dancer etiquette begins with appearance. Dancers should have on the appropriate dancewear - shoes, tights, and leotard (especially in ballet). Jazz pants are acceptable in jazz, tap and hip-hop. Loose, baggy clothing or street clothes can be hazardous in the studio environment..

Classroom Behavior
Appropriate behavior in class is critical to the learning process. Dancers are always excited to see their friends in class, but must limit socializing to the time before and after class - 100% attention must be paid to the instructor/choreographer. Students should not feel threatened or embarrassed when being challenged with difficult dance techniques. We are all here to learn, and learning through mistakes and corrections is part of the process.

Supporting Each Other
Support of others is also an important part of learning. We learn to encourage each other and support students that may be struggling; we all will struggle at some point. Cheering and clapping for fellow dancers is a great way to show your support!
