Outstanding Senior Award
Each year Benedict College recognizes an Outstanding Senior at both its Winter and Spring Commencement Exercises. These distinguished students are selected from their respective graduating classes. Criteria for selection of this high honor include, but are not limited to, quality and sincere involvement in a variety of campus, athletic, and community activities, as well as outstanding scholastic achievement. The Outstanding Senior Selection Committee, comprised of various faculty and staff, reviews all applications and submits a nomination to the President for approval.
Who can apply?
To be eligible for consideration, a student must:
- Be scheduled to receive the Bachelor's Degree during his or her final semester prior to graduation (either in December or May).
- Have earned a minimum 3.2 GPA.
- Document outstanding achievements in the following areas: academic achievements, service to the college, service to the community.
Application Process
Applicants must provide the information as described in the application guidelines (PDF) in a single three-ring portfolio. Please take time to evaluate your own credentials and select those for consideration that you feel are your most outstanding achievements. Please provide documentation on each activity or award cited.
Applications (PDF) must be typewritten or computer generated on plain white computer/copy paper. Applications must include:
- Cover sheet please use the modifiable form provided on our website or you may type directly onto the form with a typewriter
- Your resume
- Summary forms and accompanying documentation for the three areas of achievement
- Responses to the three essay questions
Please submit your completed application and one (1) copy to the Office of Academic Affairs by November 25, 2006 for December 2006 graduates and by April 20, 2007 for May 2007 graduates.
Applications will not be accepted after the deadline.
