2001 - 2007
Class of 2001
The Class of 2001 laid the cornerstone for the new Millennium Walk. The Walk was established as the constant reminder that the Class of 2001 and all subsequent classes would be committed to going forth and truly become "Powers for good in the 21st century."
The Inaugural Millennium Walk plaque is a cast bronze tiger paw bearing the college slogan "Veritas" and "Virtus" along with the CLASS OF 2001 inscription. The bronze plaque was designed and cast by Assistant Professor of Art, Mr. Michael Hale.

The Class of 2001 proudly gave to the college the carrilon chimes for Antisdel Chapel. The Chimes ring every half hour and on the hour and contain a complete repertoire of seasonal, secular, and religious tunes in addition to the college's Alma Mater.

Class of 2002
The Class motto for 2002 was, "Rekindling the Past; Illuminating the Future." Their Millennium Walk installation is composed of sculptured concrete bearing the design of the Book of Knowledge. On the two exposed pages are representations of an 1800's Benedict College graduate and a contemporary Benedict College graduate signifying the class's motto. The installation was designed and sculpted by Assistant Professor of Art, Mr. Michael Hale.

The Class of 2002 presented to the college a bronze bust of our Founder, Mrs. Bathsheba A. Benedict. The bust was designed and sculpted by artists George Danhires of Ohio. Mr. Danhires designed the sculpture relying on the portrait of Mrs. Benedict in the college's possession. He first completed a clay model for the casting that he donated to the college's permanent art collection. The bronze bust rests on a slab of black marble imported from China. The bust was installed on a granite pedestal in front of the new Administration Building.

The Class of 2002 also proudly presented the College with its first ceremonial mace.
The College Mace was designed and fashioned by sculptor and Assistant Professor of Art, Michael Hale. It is 52 inches in length, constructed of bronze, velvet, and oak. Surmounting the Mace is the Great Seal of the College cast in solid bronze. A sphere made of four bronze stanchions representing the foundations of the College supports it; these being the Office of the President, Administration, Academic, and Student Affairs. The sphere sits upon a bronze greave representative of the College's Board of Trustees. The staff of the Mace is constructed of solid oak with 16 cabochon amethysts set in 24-carat gold bezels. The oak staff represents the strength of our academic programs and the amethysts are representative of the College's ten academic departments, three schools, faculty, staff, and students. The solid bonze greave at the base of the staff is representative of our founder, Mrs. Bathesheba Benedict. The Mace is completed with a final bronze sphere. The four stanchions of the final sphere represent the original vocations offered by the College; Teachers, Preachers, Painters, and Carpenters.

Class of 2003.
The Class of 2003 chose for its installation on the Millennium Walk a tile mosaic designed by Ms. Gina Moore and crafted by Ms. Moore, Mr. Michael Hale, and Mr. John Wright from our own Fine Arts Department. The mosaic depicts a leaping tiger. It is graduates hope that all who see it will fondly remember the fighting TIGERS OF 2003.

The Class of 2003 also purchased two 36" hand sculpted concrete Benedict College Seals to be placed in the portals at the back entrance to the college. Assistant Professor of Art, Mr. Michael Hale, sculpted the seals

The Class of 2003 was elated to gift the college with THE BENEDICT COLLEGE TIGERS. The two tiger sculptures were hand carved from solid orange marble. Each sculpture boldly depicts a strong male tiger, our own college mascot, a protective mother tiger, and a determined cub. The Class hopes that these statues forever stand as a symbol of the strength and unity of the Benedict College Tiger family. Now all who come through our gates will know without question they are in TIGER COUNTRY!

Class of 2004
The Class of 2004 chose for its installation on the Millennium Walk a rose marble monument engraved with the class motto: "A cascade of knowledge cultivating prosperity." The monument also included the college seal and the class distinction.

The Class of 2004 elected to gift the college with two fountain structures.
The first fountain was erected in front of the campus library. The three-tiered fountain was installed upon a masonry basin. A pergola was erected to enclose the fountain. The pergola consists of four masonry columns reminiscent of the Class of 2004 and representing the four pillars of the College; the Faculty and Staff, the Administration, the Alumni, and the Students. The plaza was completed with four wrought iron benches. The Class of 2004 petitioned President Swinton to dedicate the plaza in honor of Class President Ali Omar and Senior Class Advisor Scott Blanks. Upon the President's approval the plaza was dedicated as the OMAR-BLANKS plaza.
Additionally the Class of 2004 purchased a three-tiered shell fountain and two wrought iron benches that were installed at the antebellum staircase at the entrance of Pratt Hall.

Class of 2005
The Class of 2005 installed a black marble monument etched with the class motto, "Success: The reward for Commitment" along with the class designation on the Millennium Walk.

The Class of 2005 in association with the National Benedict College Alumni Association dedicated the grounds between Antisdel Chapel and Morgan Hall as "Alumni Commons" as a permanent space to celebrate the college's alumni past, present and future. In the middle of the commons the Class of 2005 erected a Howard Replica, four-faced post clock engraved with the "Benedict College" and "Established in 1870" on the alternate faces. The famed Van Bergen Company manufactured the clock. The clock was mounted in a large brick planter and stands at 19 and feet. Around the base of the clock engraved bricks purchased by alumni complete the center plaza. A bronze plaque bearing the following inscription:
"Clock presented by the Class of 2005 and the Benedict College National Alumni Association."
The total cost of the project was approximately $33,589.00.

Class of 2005/2006
The Class of 2005/2006 installed a 3' X 3' textured granite stone in the Millennium Walk. The stone is etched with the Class designation, the class motto, "Empowered to Lead Nations", and features etchings of two Benedict College graduates in their regalia.

The Class of 2005/2006 chose to restore the two President's Trophies to heirloom condition. The Class created wall plaques containing all the names of the past Presidents Trophy recipients to create and Honor Wall in the Benedict College Library. The display consists of the three walnut plaques and the two restored Presidents Trophies.

Class of 2006/2007
The Class of 2006/2007 installed a 3' X 3' textured granite stone in the Millennium Walk. The stone is etched with the Class designation, the class motto, "Blazing a Trail to the Future: Creating Legacies of Greatness ", and features a tiger head etching. Cost: $1,500.00
The gift to the College from the Class of 2006/2007 consists of a duel sculpture installation at the entrance to the Charles W. Johnson Stadium. On either side of the main Stadium entrance, two life-size cast bronze sculptured tigers prowl majestically atop natural boulder pedestals. The sculptures are recreations from an 1854 original by French sculpture Antoine Barye. The boulder pedestals consist of two flattop Tennessee fieldstones upon two granite risers.
