Dr.
Gary L. Callahan Elected Chair of NNER Arts & Sciences Tripartite Council
Dr. Gary L. Callahan, assistant
dean for the School of Education and associate professor of Music Education at Benedict College, attended the National Network for Education Renewal (NNER) 2006 annual
conference in Cincinnati, Ohio on Oct. 18-21, 2006. During this conference,
Dr. Callahan was elected Arts & Sciences chair for the NNER Tripartite
Council.
The NNER is a membership network
dedicated to the simultaneous renewal of schools and the institutions that
prepare teachers. Its work is based on the four-part mission of providing equal
access to quality learning for all students, promoting responsible stewardship
of schools and universities, improving teaching and learning through pedagogy
that nurtures and challenges all learners, and providing students with the
knowledge, skills, and dispositions to become fully engaged participants in our
democratic society.
As the Arts & Sciences chair,
Callahan will work with the arts and sciences faculty of the twenty-one NNER
member institutions of the Tripartite Council and will represent the arts and
sciences body on the NNER Governing Council and the NNER Executive Board.
