Women honored by YMCA

From Staff Reports

The YWCA honored 16 women Wednesday during its annual Tribute to Women and Industry Awards.

The women were chosen because of significant contributions in the business world and in volunteering, said Wendi Nance, YWCA chief executive.

“So many of them are excellent role models for youth who are following in their footsteps,” Nance said. “We’ve got to build a path for tomorrow’s leaders.”

Four of the award recipients were named Diamond Honorees for extraordinary community service and business leadership. They are:

• Dee Dee Chewning, director of Healthy Learners, a nonprofit outreach that provides health care to disadvantaged children

• Teri Colley, executive administrator of The R.L. Bryan Co.
