Benedict Professor named among five women for Girl Scouts Award

Five Columbia-area women will be honored by the Girl Scouts next month for their community and professional accomplishments at the 12th Annual Women of Distinction Awards Luncheon.

For twelve years, the Congaree Council has acknowledged more than 50 women for their exemplary accomplishments in community service, professional achievement and of course – their ability to positively influence the lives of girls and young women. This year, the Congaree Council is pleased to salute the following five local women:

Dr. Linda Rochelle Lane, Benedict College History Professor

Suzan D. Boyd, Executive Director of the South Carolina Prevent Teen Pregnancy

Anne M. Sinclair, Mayor Pro Tempore, Columbia City Council

Dr. Bambi Gaddist, Executive Director, South Carolina HIV/AIDS Council

Dr. Caroline Whitson, President of Columbia College

Tickets for the luncheon are $35 each, and corporate and individual sponsorship opportunities are currently available. Proceeds will support local Girl Scouts programs and initiatives.
