On Sunday,
April 18, 2004, Community
Life presented the
First Annual "Mr. Sporty" 2004-2005
Competition in the HRC Arena on Benedict College campus.
The purpose of the competition was to showcase the latitude
of individual appearance and public speaking among the
males at Benedict College. The competition also seeks
to provide opportunities for contestants and other students
to further develop leadership and interpersonal skills
through individual and group activities including community
relations and public speaking.

As a part of this competition, Benedict College will
publish its first all-male calendar which will display
the diversity of twelve outstanding male students.
The calendars will be distributed to students and the
Columbia community for a small donation. Proceeds from
the calendar will go towards the David H. Swinton Scholarship
Fund.
Again, this event's initiative is to increase broad
public awareness of the outstanding students of the
College as they become powers for good in the 21st Century.
