  • Dr. Gloria Boutte received top award at the South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities Excellence in Teaching Awards Banquet.
  • Dr. Stacey Franklin Jones, Dean for the School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), was recognized for excellence by SC Governor Mark Sanford
  • Charles David Brooks III received Proclamation from the City of Hartsville, SC on July 7, 2006.
  • Emmie J. Davis, instructor of English with a 20-year tenure, known for her innovative teaching methodologies, was named the 2005-2006 Distinguished Faculty Member of The Year and awarded the 2005 Outstanding Honors Faculty Award for the National Association of African American Honors Programs.
  • Ronald Davis, a leadership development specialist, who is cred­ited for developing successful student leaders, was honored as the 2005-2006 Outstanding Support Staff.
  • Christopher Hart, instructor of Business Law, was recently (2006) elected South Carolina State House of Representative for the 47th District.
  • Damara R. Hightower, director of TRIO Programs, is responsible for increasing the number of students in the TRIO program under her four-year tenure from 120 to 825 served. She was recognized as the 2005-2006 Outstanding Administrator of the Year.
  • Dr. Stacey F. Jones, dean for the School of Science, Technol­ogy, Engineering & Mathematics, has been named an ACE Fel­low for leadership development in the 2005-06 academic year.
  • Dr. Linda L. Kershaw, associate professor of Music and conductor of the Concert Choir, was inducted into the Richland One (South Carolina School District) Hall of Fame 2006.
  • Dr. Samir Raychoudhury, an associate professor of Biology, was honored as the Louis Stokes SCAMP Outstanding Resaerch Mentor at the 2006 SC Alliance for Monority Participation (SCAMP) Summer Research Enrichment Program.
