Classroom Rules of Etiquette
- All students are required to adhere to the college's official dress code. Students must not wear hats, caps, scarves, do-rags, head bands, stocking caps, or any other type of unauthorized head gear in the classroom. This pertains to females as well as males. Students should dress in an attempt not to draw unwarranted attention to themselves. This is a professional setting and students are reminded to dress appropriately.
- No pants are to be worn below the waistline. Students must not wear "short shorts" or midriff tops or expose inappropriate body parts.
- No infants or toddlers are allowed in the class. If you have babysitting issues, please make other arrangements.
- No cell phones and/or pagers are to be used in the classroom. If you are expecting a call, put the apparatus on "vibrate" and leave the room to answer the call.
- To be present for the day, the student must be in class no later than ten (10) minutes after the scheduled start time for the class. Rolling in to class after the scheduled time will constitute an absence. For absences in excess of the allowed number, students will lose a total of one (1) point off the final grade for each absence.
- Students should be present when exams are given. Missed exams may be made-up with an acceptable excuse for the day the test was administered. However, make-up exams must be taken prior to the next scheduled class. Students must schedule make-ups with the instructor or risk receiving a "0" grade.
- Classes will be held as scheduled. When changes or cancellations are made, students will be notified by the instructor, her designee or the staff from the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation.
- Students are required to purchase and bring the textbook to class. Students are advised to take notes during class as the majority of exam items are taken from class lectures and discussion materials. Students should bring the proper utensils for class i.e; pens, pencils, notebooks, textbooks, etc.
- Scores used for evaluations are on a 100 point scale. All work must be submitted in typewritten form on the due date or risk consequences.
- Students are reminded to respect themselves, the instructor, and their classmates.
- If students feel the need to smoke or drink before coming to class, make sure that all trace of smoke or drink has been cleaned from the body. Points will be deducted from grade if the instructor receives a "contact high".
Note:
Consequences will be applied for those who fail to follow these guidelines. |
