Standouts at the Clemson University "Bob Pollock" Spring Invitational (05/07/2011)

Women:

  • Camille Clemmons-James, Junior from Columbia, SC (Lower Richland H.S.) does it again. She shattered the 400m School record by placing 1st in the meet and running an NCAA Div II Automatic Qualifying time of 54.67 which she is currently ranked 5th in the nation!! She broke her own school record in the 200m Dash with a time of 24.36 which she is currently ranked 25th in the nation!

Men:

  • Chavis Taylor, Freshman from Spartanburg, SC (Brynes H.S.) placed 2nd overall and ran a personal best of 1:52.35 which is a NCAA Div II Provisional Qualifier time. He is currently ranked 20th in the nation!
  • Christopher A. J. Smith, Junior from Clover, SC (Clover H.S) finished 4th in the Pole Vault with a 15'03" (4.65m). He is currently ranked 13th in the nation!

Women:

Women's Team finished in 3rd place with 89 total points.

  • Gabrielle Nixon, Senior from Inagua, Bahamas, was awarded the SIAC Female Athlete of the Year in the field events by scoring a total of 25 points. She placed 1st in the Shot Put with a 40' 4" (12.64m), 1st in the Discus Throw with a 131'5" (40.7m), 4th in the Hammer Throw with a 128'01" (39.05m), and 8th in the Javelin Throw with a 89'4" (27.22m)
  • Camille Clemmons-James, Junior from Columbia, SC, placed second overall in the 100m Dash with a 12.15 and fourth overall in the 200m dash with a 25.05. She currently ranked no. 24 in the nation in the 100m dash and 18th in the 200m Dash
  • Annalece Nembhard, Sophomore from Kingston, Jamaica, placed 3rd in the Discus Throw with a 125'9" (38.34m), 3rd in the Shot Put with 37'8" (11.50m), and 4th in the Javelin throw with 103'2 (31.45m)
  • Shanterria King, Freshman from Atlanta, GA, placed 5th in the 400m Dash with a 59.24
  • Charvez Holmes, Senior from Atlanta, GA, placed 5th in the Javelin Throw with a 94'9" (28.89m), 6th in the Discus Throw with a 116'6" (35.50m), 7th in the Hammer Throw with a 115'1" (35.07m), and 8th in the Shot Put with a 35'1" (10.69m)

  • Christopher A. J. Smith, Junior from Clover, SC, breaks the SIAC, Benedict College and stadium (at Morehouse) record in Pole Vault with a 16' 2" (4.93m) Jump. This is also a Provisional Qualifying mark which he is currently ranked 8th in the Nation. He finished 3rd in the Decathlon with 5736 and 5th in the Javelin Throw with a 160'7" (48.96m)
  • Brandon Johnson, Junior from Tucson, AZ, placed 1st in the Discus Throw with a school record of 157'10" (48.10m), 4th in the Shot Put with a 41'2" (12.56m), and a 6th place finish in the Hammer Throw of 113'6" (34.60m)
  • Chavis Taylor, Freshman from Spartanburg, SC, placed 1st in the 800m run with 1:54.09, 6th in the 1500m run with a 4:13.56, and 7th in the 5000m run with a 17:27.48
  • Dickson Toroitich, Junior from Eldoret, Kenya, placed 1st in the 10,000m run with a 33:58.11, 2nd in the 5000m run with a 16:19.30, and 2nd in the 3000m SC with a 9:48.80
  • Hadrien Choukroun, Junior from Moutrouge, France, placed 2nd in the Decathlon with 5996, and 2nd in the Pole Vault with a 14'3" (4.35m)
  • Darnell Washington, Sophomore from Petersburg, VA, placed 2nd in the 200m dash with 21.82 and 3rd in the 100m Dash with 10.89.
  • Tre Adderley, Freshman from Freeport, Bahamas, placed 2nd in the Javelin Throw with a school record breaking mark of 186'1" (56.72m), 4th in the Decathlon with a 5646, and 3rd in the Pole Vault with a 11'6" (3.51m)
  • Jamar Holmes, Junior from Millen, GA, placed 3rd in the 400m Dash with 49.18
  • 4x100m Relay placed 4th with a 41.49. 1st leg: Laval Davis, Senior from Anderson, SC; 2nd leg: Darnell Washington, Sophomore from Petersburg, VA; 3rd leg: Corey Miles, Freshman from Spartanburg, SC; and 4th leg: Jamar Holmes, Junior from Millen, GA

Women:

  • Gabrielle Nixon, Senior from Inagua, Bahamas finished 2nd in the Discus Throw overall with a 36.79. She also placed 5th in the Shot Put with a 12.22 (40'1")
  • Jallisa Clifford, Sophomore from Vancouver, Canada finished 5th in the Hammer throw with a 36.79 (120'8)
  • Charvez Holmes, Senior from Atlanta, GA finished 6th in the Discus Throw with 30.58 (100'4)
  • Camille Clemmons-James, Junior from Columbia, SC finished 4th in the 100m dash with a 12.08 and 25.08 in the 200m Dash
  • Women's 4x100m Relay ran their personal best time for the season with a 48.74 (seasons Best):

  • Dickson Toroitich, Junior from Eldoret, Kenya finished 2nd in the 3000m SC with a seasons best of 9:36.58
  • Tre Adderley, Freshman from Freeport, Bahamas finished 3rd in the Javelin Throw with a 51.72m (169'8")

  • Gabrielle Nixon, Senior from the Bahamas, placed 2nd in the Shot Put with a 12.20m
  • Annalece Nembhard, Sophomore from Kingston, Jamaica, placed 2nd in the Women's Discus and 3rd with an 11.75m in the Shot Put
  • Women's 4x100m Relay won with a season's best of 48.60
    Relay Team: Shanterrria King, Camille Clemmons-James, Lache' Williams, and Kaneesha Knowles

Men:

  • Kevin Precia, Junior from Columbia, SC, won the 400m Hurdles with a season's best of 55.54
  • Christopher Smith, Junior from Clover, SC, won the Pole Vault with a season's best of 15'3" (4.65m)
  • Tre Adderlery, Freshman from Freeport, Bahamas, placed 2nd in the Javelin with a season's best of 53.40m (With this mark, Tre' qualifies for the CARIFTA Games)
  • Brandon Johnson, Junior from Tucson, AZ, placed 2nd in the Discus Throw with a season's best of 45.89m
  • Rakim Trapp-Jackson, Senior from Jacksonville, FL, finished 2nd in the 110m High Hurdles with a 14.95
  • Dickson Toroitich, Junior from Kenya, finished 2nd in the 3000m Steeple Chase with a 9:56 and 3rd in the 5000m Run with a 15:29

Standouts at the Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational (03/18-19/2011)

Women:

  • Camille Clemmons-James, Columbia, SC native, Junior, does it again. She broke her school record this weekend in the 200m Dash with a 24.49 where she finished 8th overall in this event out of 80. This a NCAA Div II provisional mark. She also ran the 100m Dash in 12.05 which is also a NCAA Div II Provisional mark where she finished 7th overall.
  • Gabrielle Nixon, Bahamas native, Senior, placed 9th overall in the Shot Put Throw with a 12.49m (40'11".75) out of 41.
  • Annalece Nembhard, Kingston, Jamaica native, Sophomore, placed 10th overall in the Discus Throw with 38.62m (126'8") out of 37.

  • Chavis Taylor, Spartanburg, SC native, Freshman, placed 4th in the 800m run with a 1:53.75 out of 55.
  • Dickson Toroitich, Elodoret, Kenya native, Junior, placed 5th in the 3000m SC with a 9:36.21 out of 20 and placed 22nd in the 3000m run with a 9:16.
  • Darnell Washington, Petersburg, VA native, Sophomore, placed 10th in the 200m Dash with a 21.68 out of 70, and finished 13th in the 100m Dash with a 10.92 in the finals, but he ran 10.73 in the pre-lims.

Standouts at the UNF Spring Break Invitational (03/04-05/2011)

Women:

  • Camille Clemmons-James, Columbia, SC native, Junior, competed in the Women's 100m Dash and 200m Dash. She finished 5th overall in the 100m Dash with a 12.20 and 4th overall in the 200m Dash with a 25.63. She is also the SIAC East Division Track & Field Female Athlete of the Week.
  • Annalece Nembhard, Jamaica, WI native, Sophomore, competed in the Discus Throw finishing 5th overall with a 39.09 and placed 17th in the Shot Put Throw with a 10.80.
  • Gabrielle Nixon, Bahamas native, Senior, competed in the Discus Throw finishing 6th overall with a 38.79 and placed 16th in the Shot Put Throw with a 10.83.
  • Women's 4 x 100m Relay Teams finished 4th and 5th overall out of 8 teams:
    A Team: Courtney Howard, Camille Clemmons-James, Tierra Williams, and Lache Williams
    B Team: Shanterria King, Lakisha Tucker, Latasha Hill, and Kaneesha Knowles

Men:

  • Darnell Washington, Virginia native, Sophomore, placed 3rd overall in the Men's 100m Dash with a 10.65 and 3rd in the 200m Dash with a 22.02.
  • Chavis Taylor, Spartanburg, SC native, Freshman, placed 4th overall in the 800m run with a 1:55.39 and 5th in the 400m Dash with 49.65.
  • Rakim Trapp-Jackson, Jacksonville, FL native, Senior, placed 8th overall in the 110m HH with 14.88.
  • Tre' Adderley, Nassau, Bahamas native, Freshman, placed 4th overall in the Long Jump with a jump of 6.57m and Laval Davis, Anderson, SC native, Senior, placed 7th in the Long Jump with a jump of 6.39m.
  • Christopher A. J. Smith, Clover, SC native, Junior, placed 5th in the Pole Vault with a 4.60m
  • Brandon Johnson, Tucson, AZ native, Junior, placed 5th overall in the Discus Throw with a 45.00m

Standouts at the Clemson "Tiger Tune -Up" (02/19/2011)

Women:

  • Camille Clemmons-James, a Junior and Native of Columbia, SC (Lower Richland H.S.), shattered her own Indoor School Record in the 200m Dash by running a 25.12 placing 2nd overall at the Clemson Meet. She also finished 9th overall in the 60m Dash by breaking the school record in 7.78 seconds.

Men:

  • Chavis Taylor, a Freshman and Native of Spartanburg, SC (Byrnes H.S.), broke a three year old indoor record in the 800m run with a 1:54.54 where he finished 2nd overall at the Clemson Meet.
