Benedict Men fall to NCAA Division III Methodist University
The men's team faced another ranked opponent in Methodist University and were left with a 9-0 loss. The contest had competitive matches at #1, #2 and #3 singles and at #1 and 2 doubles. Top seeded Avery Coins played to the edge until a knee injury slowed his attack as he finished with a 6-4, 6-1 loss to Matthew Taylor. Darreus Wheeler came up short at #2 singles 6-3, 6-1 and Timothy Thornton fell to Austin Wang 6-0, 6-4 at #3 singles. Giovanni Plater, Deangelo Smith and Dominique Greene were overpowered at 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0 respectively in the #4, #5 and #6 singles positions. A. Coins and T. Thornton at #1 and D. Wheeler and G. Plater at #2 Doubles matches were played well but both matches ended in losing 8-3 match scores. D. Greene and D. Smith fell 8-0 in the #3 doubles match. The Tigers are 0-2 overall in match play.
