Players/Pitchers of the Week 2011 (BC Players only)

SIAC East Division Pitcher of the Week (as of March 15, 2011)

LaKeeya Ramsey (2B/P, SO, Summerville, GA)
Ramsey, a native of Summerville, GA, finished with a 2-1 record for the week with 15 strikeouts. She pitched 22 total innings, including two complete games, and finished with a 4.77 ERA.

Cherae Rice (3B/SS, SR, Columbia, SC)
Rice, who led the nation last season with a .545 batting average, had a huge week at the SIAC Crossover with 12 hits, including a triple and a double, and a .600 batting average. The 5-8 senior led the tournament with six home runs and had an astonishing 1.650 slugging percentage along with 13 RBIs, 10 runs scored, and one stolen base. The Columbia, SC native also had a .621 on-base percentage and was also solid on defense with a .842 fielding percentage. Rice helped lead Benedict to a 4-2 record against the west division with victories over Lane, Stillman, LeMoyne-Owen, and Kentucky State.

Ramsey pitched two complete games with nine total strikeouts. The Summerville, GA native finished the week 2-0 with a 4.08 ERA.

SIAC East Division Player of the Week (as of April 5, 2011)

Cherae Rice (3B/SS, SR, Columbia, SC)
Rice, a native of Columbia, SC, had three hits, including a home run and two doubles, with a .600 batting average and a 1.600 slugging percentage in two games. The 5-9 senior drove in five runs while also scoring four and had an on-base percentage of .856. Defensively, Rice had a .909 fielding percentage while helping lead Benedict to wins over Shaw, 9-1 and 12-6.

SIAC East Division Co-Pitcher of the Week (as of April 12, 2011)

LaKeeya Ramsey (2B/P, SO, Summerville, GA)
In five appearances, Ramsey went 3-1, including four complete games, with a save. The Summerville, SC native threw 16 strikeouts. At the plate, Ramsey took advantage of opposing teams walking teammate Cherae Rice, currently the nation's leader in batting average, by going 8-for-19 with a trio of three-run homeruns and two doubles while driving in 14 runs and scoring eight. She batted .421 with a 1.000 slugging percentage to help Benedict to 4-2 record with victories over Johnson C. Smith, Paine, and Albany State.

Cherae Rice (3B/SS, SR, Columbia, SC)
Rice, a native of Columbia, SC, had 10 hits, including a home run, a triple, and four doubles, with a .714 batting average and a 1.357 slugging percentage. The 5-8 senior drove in 10 runs and scored 13 runs. She also had an on-base percentage of .772 and stole one base. Defensively, Rice had a .880 fielding percentage to help lead the Lady Tigers to a 5-1 record for the week with victories against Johnson C. Smith, Paine, and Fort Valley State.

LaKeeya Ramsey (2B/P, SO, Summerville, GA)
Ramsey pitched five complete games, finishing the week a 4-1 record and a save. The Summerville, GA native also threw 12 strikeouts for the Lady Tigers.
