Benedict College Softball Team Leads NCAA
in Doubles Category
[Columbia, SC] The Benedict College Softball team was
awarded the National Collegiate Athletic Association Title for doubles during
their 2006 softball season.
During the 2006 Softball season the Benedict
Tigerettes led NCAA Division II softball by hitting 96 doubles and capturing
the national statistical title. The Tigerettes also captured the Southern
Intercollegiate Athletic Conferences’ Eastern Division Title with a 20-19
record overall.
Junior infielder, Cylenia Norris led the
way hitting 18 doubles while Chanika Brathwaite wasn’t far behind with
17. Senior outfielder, Lynia Liburd added 15 doubles to help secure the
NCAA Title. The Tigerettes recorded a team batting average of .351 and a
slugging percentage of .516 during their 2006 season.
