John E. Webb was the type of player who
made the mold for such multi-sports standouts and modern superstars as
Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders. He lettered in three collegiate sports
– football, basketball and baseball. He was selected the outstanding
defensive halfback for three consecutive years in conference play.
As head coach of Granard High School in Gaffney, South Carolina for
ten years, Webb compiled a high school winning record far exceeding
that of his contemporaries. He officiated football and basketball in
the Piedmont area and numerous regions in the lower section of South
Carolina, and gained the reputation of being a model teacher and mentor
for his students.
Webb is very active in community and civic activities and remains
loyal to his alma mater. He is supportive of Benedict's fund raising
efforts and has volunteered to assist in the restoration of Morgan
Hall. |
