Belton named Benedict Golf Coach (2001)
Herman Belton has been named golf coach at Benedict College. He succeeds Lucius "Scooter" Clark who passed in early May after a lengthy illness.
Belton, who served as interim coach during Clark's illness, is a graduate of Benedict and was captain of the Tiger's golf team for three consecutive years during his college career. The Camden native, who was the team's No. 1 player, currently owns a four-handicap. He was the recipient of many honors while attending Benedict, including the team's MVP for three years.
"This is a dream come true," Belton said after being name to the post. "I am very excited about the opportunity given me to coach at my alma mater. My initial goal is to improve the overall quality of our play and become more competitive as a team."
