Benedict 24, Concordia 13
Early scores help Tigers extend win streak
Miami-Using its powerful rushing attack and dominating defense, Benedict College scored 24 first half points in route to a 24-13 win over Concordia (Selma). The Tigers, (3-2, 1-2), fought through inclement weather, costly turnovers and a late Concordia comeback to earn their third consecutive win after starting the season 0-2. Concordia, which committed four turnovers, all in the first half, dropped to (0-3).
Quarterback Pat Riley rushed 115 yards on 16 carries and threw for 76 yards to provide the spark for a Tiger offense that has scored 113 points during their three-game winning streak. Renando Rose and Jonathan Cunningham had scores and free safety Anthony Davis returned one of two interceptions 28-yards for a score to give Benedict a commanding 24-0 lead at the half.
The Tigers will have a pivotal Conference showdown next Saturday, September 26 on the road against SIAC powerhouse Albany State.
