BC at Tuskegee University

[Tuskegee, AL] With temperatures soaring high into the upper 90s at Cleve L. Abbott stadium in Tuskegee, the Benedict Tigers would prove to be over-matched against the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University.

Tuskegee unleashed their Golden Tigers by scoring their first TD only four minutes into the first half. Tuskegee quarterback Jacary Atkinson would connect with Jonathan Lessa from 22-yards out. With 11:34 on the clock TU would lead 6-0. Dimitri Pelaez's kick would not be successful.

Benedict regained possession of the ball; however, the BC offensive attack was ineffective against the TU Defense. On Tuskegee's second possession Stephen Freeman would score on a 6-yard scamper and move the score to 12-0. The kick was blocked by defensive lineman Kyle Johnson. Benedicts Ulrich Blaize recovered the Block and returned it 95 yards but a BC penalty would over rule the TD. At the end of the first quarter TU 12 BC 0.

During the second quarter Jacary Atkinson would begin a passing attack accumulating a total of 345 yards passing before the end of the second quarter. Atkinson would connect with Antoine Mitchell for a 13 yard pass, Jason English for a 9 yard pass, and Stanley Reid for a 70 yard pass. All would score touchdowns making the score 31-0. Tuskegee missed two field goal attempts. Jacary Atkinson scored again on a one-yard run lifting the score to 37-0.

Benedict would not come alive until the fourth quarter when Corey Guardhigh caught a 25 yard pass from Spence changing the score to 37-7. Robert Reese would then score on a 12 yard run making the final score 37-14.
