(BC) Benedict College vs. (LC) Lane College
11/03/2007: This week the Benedict College Tigers hosted the Dragons of Lane College in SIAC conference play. The Tigers were after a win on High School Day in their final home appearance of the season.
With 7:52 to go in the first quarter the Dragons would strike first on a ten yard TD pass, forcing ahead 7-0. However, the Tigers would take advantage of the following possession marching to the opponent's 3 yard line on a 55 yard pass from QB Kevin Reese to Verna Nesmith for an eventual game tying touchdown. Nesmith would leave the game sustaining injury on the play. The Tigers kept the offense coming in the second quarter with a 46 yard touchdown pass to Richard Siders ... placing Benedict ahead 13-7 after a failed PAT.
During second half, the Benedict College Tigers kept the pressure on when QB Kevin Reese leaped into the end zone on a 9 yd scramble for a touchdown just 5 minutes into the half, setting the score at BC 20- LC 7. The Reese show continued in the third quarter when the QB broke free for another 26 yard rushing touchdown. A failed 2 point conversion set the score at BC 26- LC 7. Sophomore Renando Rose continued the offensive onslaught trucking though the Lane defensive line for a 12 yard touchdown run.
Lane's woes would continue when they fumbled the ball into their own end zone only to be recovered by Travis Davis for a Benedict College defensive touchdown. The final score would stand at BC 40-LC 7.
Your Benedict College Tigers will be back in action next week in Tuscaloosa, AL taking on the Tigers of Stillman College. With this victory Benedict improves to 2-8 (1-6 SIAC) going into the final game of the season.
