Benedict College vs. Fort Valley State University

10/20/2007: The 2007 Tiger football team looks to come out of this year's homecoming game against Fort Valley State University with its first homecoming win since 2000. The tigers entered into the game with a 0-4 conference record, while the wildcats of Ft. Valley entered into the game with a 3-1 record.

Quarterback Kevin Reese and the Tigers came out of the gates full speed scoring on a 30 yard run with 7:54 seconds on the clock in the first quarter. After a failed field goal attempt the score settled at 6-0. During Ft. Valley's second possession of the game, the Tiger defense held the Wildcats off allowing them to score only on a 44 yard field goal with 2:23 remaining in the second half. This pushed the score to 3-6 BC on top.

As the Tiger's took on their next possession of the ball, they attempted 8 plays and only gained a total of 28 yard's forcing the kicker Josh Lailson to kick a field goal from 20 yards out. The field goal was good. The field goal kept Benedict in the lead by a score of 3-9.

With 1:16 seconds remaining in the half, the Wildcats offense would regain possession and set an aerial attack with an outstanding 56-yard pass which set up a rushing touchdown and PAT. The score became FVSU 10 BC 9. After an Ulrich Blaize blocked field goal, the Tiger's would recover the blocked kick in the end zone forcing a safety. This moved the score to FVSU 10 BC 11.

Early on in the fourth quarter, BC would record their final touchdown in the game on a Renando Rose 26 yard run. Lailson's kick was good. FVSU 10 BC 18.  On their next possession the Tiger's would try a half back option pass only for it to be intercepted. With only 2:07 remaining in the 4th quarter, Ft. Valley would score again on a 14 yard pass, then scoring the 2 point conversion making the score 18 FVSV 18 BC. Benedict would regain possession and get the ball to the FVSU 45 before throwing an interception. The interception set-up a 21 yard field goal with only 18 seconds remaining in the game. The field goal was good. Final score FVSU 21 BC 18.
