Coach Gerard Washington

(Wide Receivers)

bc football staff washington gerardWashington, a 2006 graduate of Benedict College and former standout at the University of Massachusetts is the wide receivers coach for the Tigers. During his playing career at UMASS, Washington led the team in tackles two years in a row and recorded the individual tackling record during his freshman season. He was also selected freshman of the conference during his first season.

After his brief stint at UMASS he returned to his native home of Columbia, SC to play for the Benedict Tigers. During his junior season he led the Tigers defensive attack recording the most tackles and placing second in quarterback sacks. Gerard was selected first team ALL SIAC.  As a senior, he continued to be a leader on defense placing second in tackles and winning ALL SIAC honors.

Shortly after graduating from Benedict in 2006, Washington was picked up by Stockton Lightening of the Arena Football League as a defensive back. He continued his success on the grid iron and eventually earned a spot with the Berlin Thunder of NFL Europe. Recently, Washington finished his first season with the Berlin Thunder as a defensive specialist.

Washington and his wife Cindy are the proud parents of their son, Zachery Dean Washington.
