Coach Anthony "Train" Redding
Coach Anthony "Train" Redding is the Defensive Line Coach. Coach Redding is a 1995 graduate of Eastern New Mexico University with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and he later earned his M.S. in Physical Education. Coach Redding's playing career began at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College as a Defensive Tackle, before transferring to Eastern New Mexico University where he played under the tutelage of Coach Howard Sterns, Defensive Coordinator at Benedict College. Coach Redding played a very big role in helping Eastern New Mexico University win the 1991 Lone Star Conference Championship.
Coach Redding joins Benedict College after a very successful career at Eastern Arizona College where he held the title and duties of Defensive Coordinator for the past three years. The 2007 team finished with an impressive 10-2 record and a Chihuahua Bowl Championship. The Gila Monsters finished the season ranked 12th in the nation while the defense finished ranked 11th in the nation breaking an impressive 45 school defensive records including 21 interceptions and 65 takeaways. During his three years as defensive coordinator at Eastern Arizona College Coach Redding has had the privilege of developing many great players and being able to help and watch them further their potential as student – athletes as transfers to Division I schools. Coach Redding's defensive units have developed the nickname as "tenacious geniuses." Before joining Eastern Arizona College, Coach Redding was the Defensive Coordinator at New Mexico Military Institute where his defense broke or tied an impressive 27 school records. His defense finished ranked 3rd in the nation in 2004. Coach Redding is known to many in the coaching industry as a recruiting genius. His ability to see talent and potential in a young man is very remarkable. Coach Redding has also had the privilege of coaching on the high school level for various schools.
Coach Redding is married to the lovely Stacy Redding and they have one daughter, Maci.
