Coach Michael Ellis

(Offensive Line)

bc football staff ellis michaelCoach Michael Ellis is the Offensive Line Coach at Benedict College.  Coach Ellis is a 1995 Graduate of Alcorn State University (Lorman, Mississippi) with a B.S. in Mass Communications.  Coach Ellis began his coaching career in 1995 as a Graduate Assistant at Alcorn State University.  From 1998 – 2000 Coach Ellis was the Offensive Line Coach at Jim Hill High School.  In 2001 he was appointed as Head Junior Varsity Head Coach of Jim Hill High School where he led his squad to a 7-1 record. From 2002-2007Coach Ellis rejoined his alma mater, Alcorn State University, as the Offensive Line Coach.

To better improve his craft, Coach Ellis has participated in numerous coaching clinics over the years.  From 1999-2001 he was an Offensive Line Instructor where he assisted as the zone and pass blocking instructor.  He also was the offensive line instructor at the Lewis Tillman Football camp in Hazlehurst, Mississippi from 1998-2001.

Coach Ellis was a four-year starter as an offensive lineman at Alcorn State, from 1991-1994.  During his time as a player Coach Ellis was a three-time first team All-SWAC selection from 1992-1994 and earned first team Sheridan Sports Network Black College All-America honors in 1994.  He was named the team's Best Offensive Lineman and was a team captain in his junior and senior seasons.

Coach Ellis is married to the former Jennifer April of Jackson, Mississippi.
