The Tigers offensive woes continue to cripple their efforts

10/02/2006: For the third consecutive week the Tigers of Benedict College have found themselves in the L column after a 10-3 loss to Albany State University Golden Rams. The Tigers offensive woes continue to cripple their efforts, only gaining 142 total yards. It was evident from a scoreless first quarter that tonight’s match up would be a hard fought battle. However, Albany would draw first blood after returning a blocked punt for an 11 yard touchdown at the 10:31 mark in the second quarter. The score would stand at 7-0 going into the second half in Albany States favor. Benedict would come out fierce in the third quarter, holding off the golden Rams offense while marching down the field to add 3 points of their own, thanks to a 26 yard field goal by Martin Degazon at the 3:36 mark. A dog fight fourth quarter would result in Albany delivering the knockout punch at the 2:45 mark in the form of a 40 yard field goal.

The tiger defense was paced by commendable efforts from Deon Lanier, who racked up ten tackles, and John Pitts, Titus Curry, and Carl Spellman, each with 7 tackles a piece.

The Tigers will rest up in the upcoming bye week, but will hit the turf once again when they host the Thoroughbreds of Kentucky State.
