Benedict 17, Miles 16

10/29/2005: A failed extra point proved to be the nail in the coffin for Miles as Benedict rallied from behind to beat Miles in Fairfield. Miles jumped out to an early 10-0 lead in the second quarter when Ellis George hit Kevin Brown for a 5 yard touchdown pass, later in the second Jeffrey Burns hit a 36 yard field goal to put the Tigers ahead and go into the half with the lead. In the second half Benedict started the fireworks scoring first on a 6 yard run by Bradowi Jackson to narrow the score to 10-7. Miles answered back though when Taurus Carr took the hand off and ran 11 yards for the touchdown to put the Golden Bears up 16-7. The fourth quarter was a nail bitter as Andre Sumner broke off a 55 yard run to bring the score to 16-14 with 3:36 remaining. And then with one second left on the clock Benedict brought out Adam Vinatieri, I mean Martin Degazon, to hit a 33 yard field goal win the game. Benedict finished the day with 359 yards of total offense but 305 came off the ground. Miles was balanced finishing the day with 144 yards passing and 101 yards rushing to finish with 254 yards of total offense. Miles shot themselves in the foot with 13 penalties for 115 yards.
