Ex-Benedict Quarterback signs with CFL

Ramon Robinson, a two-year starter on the Benedict College football team, has signed a pact with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.  Term of the contract was not announced.

Robinson, who played last season with Charleston Swamp Foxes of Arena Football 2, threw for 2,110 Yards and 17 touchdowns in 1997, his junior year.  He completed 135 passes of 234 attempts for a percentage of 57.7.

In 1998 Robinson, who played one year of club football before the Tigers embarked on an intercollegiate schedule, connected on 127 of 161 passes for a 1,592 yards and 16 touchdowns. His passing percentage was 48.7.

According to Saskatchewan officials, Robinson has good shot at earning the starting position.  The post became vacant when Roughrider starter Henry Burris was signed by the Green Bay Packers of  the National Football League.
