The Lady Tigers held the Golden Lady Tigers of Tuskegee University for a 63 - 49 victory
The Lady Tigers of Benedict College tipped off against the Golden Lady Tigers of Tuskegee University on Saturday afternoon in the Benjamin E. Mays Human Resource Arena. The Golden Tigers entered the match in fourth place among SIAC opponents. Through a majority of the first half, Charvez Holmes controlled the offensive attack for the Lady Tigers. As Tuskegee couldn't find the basket, Benedict took advantage of the game by forcing fouls and shooting 80 percent of their free throws. Brittany Jackson, Bridget Williams, and Santeria Grooms added 5 points each to secure a four point lead by the end of the half. The score at the end of the half was Benedict 31, Tuskegee 27.
During the second half, Tuskegee posed a threat taking the lead early on however it would not be enough to keep the Lady Tigers down. Anika Ross turned up her offensive playing dropping 10 points on the night. She also grabbed 4 rebounds and totaled a block shot and one steal. Jackson and Holmes were the high scorers on the night both of which scored 12 points. Alexus Jones and Bridgette Williams each scored 9 points and gave stellar defensive performances on the night forcing several Tuskegee turnovers. Finals score of the game was Benedict 63, Tuskegee 49.
