The Lady Tigers rolled over the rival Panthers of Claflin 76 - 57
The Lady Tigers tipped off against conference rival Claflin University at Tullis Arena in Orangeburg last night and came out of their cages roaring with points. Coach Felicia Jenkins enforced her press style defense and it proved to be too much for the Lady Panther early in the game. During the first half, Benedict totaled 6 steals and 2 blocks. Offensively, the Lady Tigers were over the 40 percentile mark in every shooting category. Anika Ross led the scoring attack with 11 points and Brittany Jackson totaled 9 points with 5 rebounds.
During the second half, the Lady Tigers continued to dominate Claflin University by remaining in the lead by at least 15 points throughout the half. Benedict also grabbed more rebounds and stepped their offensive game up. Before the end of the game, the Lady Tigers would claim 28 percent of their points in 3-pointers and 40 percent from free throws. Jackson and Charvez Holmes were high scorers for the night both of which scored 15 points. Ross ended the game with 13 and Bridgette Williams followed with 10. Final score of the game was Benedict 76, Claflin 57.
