Lady Tigers tamed the Lady Lions of Paine College
The Lady Tigers tipped off against the Lady Lions of Paine College in a packed house at the Benjamin E. Mays Human Resource Arena. While the gym was full of spectators, the game took off with a slow pace. With ten minutes passed in the first half, the score was only 8-4 with Benedict in the lead. During the half, the Lady Tigers only shot 30 percent from the field and a mere 21 percent in 3-pointers. Paine College also had trouble finding only shooting 25 percent from the field and 14 percent in 3-pointers. Brittany Jackson led the offensive attack for the Lady Tigers scoring 8 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. Utivia Barnes and Charvez Holmes followed with 6 points each. By the end of the half, Coach Felicia Jenkins found a weak spot in the Paine College conditioning arena and eventually beat the Lady Lions from lack of depth in their bench. At the end of the first half, the score was Benedict College 31 Paine College 17.
During the second half, Coach Jenkins let the Lady Tigers out of their cages and completely ran the Lions of Paine College into a state of fatigue. Not able to keep up, Paine College would begin to fall behind and never come close leveling the score. Brittany Jackson continued to lead the Lady Tigers throughout the game totaling 12 points and 11 rebounds on the night while Charvez Holmes totaled 11 points. The final score was Benedict College 63 Paine College 47.
