Lady Tigers Slam Clark Atlanta 72-41

[Atlanta, GA] At the quarterfinal rounds of the 2010 SIAC Championships, The #3 Lady Tigers of Benedict College tipped off against the #6 Lady Panthers of Clark Atlanta University. To start off the game Charvez Holmes dropped the first shot for the Lady Tigers from behind the arches. This would set the tone for the remainder of the half. Too much defense from the Lady tigers would prove to hold Clark Atlanta to only eight points with seven minutes remaining in the half. Leading the way for the Lady Tigers during the first half were duo Brittany Jackson and Utivia Barnes with eight points. Jackson also grabbed 4 rebounds to help boost the Lady Tigers to a 28 point lead at the end of the half. BC 40 Clark Atlanta 12.
During the second half Clark Atlanta held the Lady Tigers to scoring only nine points after seven minutes of play, however they only answered back with a total of seven themselves. With 13 minutes on the clock the score would stand at Benedict 49, Clark Atlanta 19. The Lady Tigers picked up their game ushering an offensive attack that placed for players in scoring double digits before the end of the game. Shakira Autrey led the scoring attack claiming 13, Holmes and Anika Ross each scored 11 points, while Jackson added 10. Final score of the game was 72 Benedict; 41 Clark Atlanta University.
Benedict had 29 turnovers; however they scored 42 of their hard earned points in the paint. This win will advance the lady Tigers to the Semi-Finals and they will face-off against the winner of Kentucky State and Albany State University.
