Claflin Lady Panthers Cage BC Lady Tigers
Last night at Claflin's Edward Tullis Arena, 2200 HBCU basketball fans witnessed the Lady Panthers top the Lady Tigers of Benedict College. After suffering a previous loss to conference foe Clark Atlanta University, Coach Jenkins and the Lady Tiger's couldn't get back on track against Claflin University.
Benedict trailed Claflin through out the entire game. At the end of the first half the Panthers outscored the Tigers 32-25. The Tigers shot 34 percent from the hardwood and 40 percent from behind the arches during the first half. Add-on Latoya Braithwaite led the lady Tigers in scoring with 14 points and Jamie Anderson followed with 13. Nadia Fleming tacked on 8 points with 12 total rebounds; however it would not be enough to stop the Lady Panthers scoring 34 points in the second half.
Jayshaun Bailey scored 23 points and recorded 12 rebounds for the lady Panthers while Brittany Martin added 15 points and 8 rebounds. Overall The Lady Panthers had a 65 percent free throw percentage while Benedict recorded a 45.5 percentage. Final score Lady Panthers 66- BC Lady Tigers 57.
The Lady Tigers are on the road again on Saturday facing off against conference opponent Lane College in Jackson Tennessee.
