Tigerettes Maul North Greenville Crusaders
The Lady Tigers of Benedict College laced them up in front of a huge home crowd last night to take on the
North Greenville University Crusaders. In a noisy and enthusiastic Benjamin E.
Mays Arena, at Benedict College, the Tigerette’s proved too hot for the
Crusaders who were edged 82-73. The Tigerette’s up-tempo pace kept them one
step ahead of North Greenville from the opening horn. Junior Nakeechia Davis led the charge from the point guard position keeping North Greenville on their
heels with her fast break style of play. Davis’ excellent court vision resulted
in an astonishing 9 assists. However, it was the impeccable three-point
shooting that lit-up the scoreboard for the home team. Senior Forward, Valerie
McQueen shot 5 of 11 from behind the arch scoring 15 points in three
pointers alone. The sharp shooter would finish with a game high 26 points, 7
rebounds, and 3 assists. A major 21 point contribution would come from Senior
Forward Aja Trotter as well who excelled from behind the arch shooting 3
of 6. Trotter would tack on another 7 rebounds and 2 assists. The Tigerette’s driving
force, Natasha Gray would also deliver an expected stand out performance
scoring 21 points with 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Even the Tigerette fans were
on fire, during the half time shoot out show. Freshman Tiger baseball player, Alex
Harvey, swished a half court shot winning a grand prize of 20 dollars. It
was a magical night at Benedict College’s Benjamin E. Mays Human Resource Center that has set the tone for many more victories to come. The Tigerettes
take the court once more in 2006 on December 29, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas for the annual Henderson State Tournament.
