The Tigers allowed the Lions of Paine College to get away with a victory
Once again, energy along with the Benedict College students, alumni, faculty and staff filled the BC Arena while the Tigers of Benedict College tipped off against the Paine College Lions. Head Coach Fred Watson and his coaching staff compiled a plan to off-set the Lions of Paine College, however, they scored basket for basket with Benedict. Anton Greer opened the game up with a three pointer and on Paine College's next possession the answered right back from behind the arches. During the first half, Paine College controlled the boards grabbing 25 rebounds to Benedict's 16. The Lions outscored Benedict by sinking 9 of 33 shots from the field. They also made 83 percent of their free-throws. By the end of the half, Paine College captured the lead by 9 points.
During the second half, newcomer Marcus Goode would take over and dominate by scoring 21 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. However, the Lions of Paine College did not give in. The score would remain close throughout the half and eventually the game was not determined until the last 1.5 seconds of the game. The score was 69-71 Paine College. Coach Fred Watson drew up a play that left Marcus Goode and one defender towards Benedict goal. If Goode would have made the shot the game would have been sent to overtime. The final score of the game was Paine College 71, Benedict College 69.
