Benedict Claws the Clark Atlanta Panthers
01/10/2007: The Panthers of Clark Atlanta University fell
victim to yet another outstanding performance by the Benedict College Tigers of
the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. On Monday January 8 in the
Benjamin E. Mays Human Resource Center spirited Tiger fans who knew there was
another big game in town worth watching more than the BCS national championship
which took place the same evening, and what an exciting evening it turned out
to be. Immediately succeeding a Tigerette overtime victory over Clark, the men’s team completed the sweep in a gritty, in your face fashion. With excellent
shooting against a Panther zone defense, the tigers would jump out to an early
lead and never look back. The Tigers mauled their competition posting a final
score of 62-53. The evenings leading scorer would be junior guard Lamont
Robinson who scored 13 points with 2 assists. Robinson also got the job
done on the defensive end recording 3 steals. Sophomore forward Bennie Lewis was also a major contributor totaling 9 points, 3 assists and 3 steals.
Junior David Wine scored 12, and senior Leslie Brown tallied 8.
Your Tigers will hit the floor next Wednesday January 10th taking on
Rival Claflin College in Orangeburg, SC at 8pm.
