Tigers Top Lane Blue Dragons
11/31/2006: [BC Sports Information] During their first
conference game of the year, Head Coach Fred Watson and the Tiger
basketball team proved to be a force to be reckoned with. On the road, in Jackson, Tennessee, Benedict outscored the Lane College Blue Dragons 84-80. The Tigers kept
their turnovers down to 13 which was a deciding factor of the game while Lane
had a total of 28 turnovers before the end of the game. The tigers shot 80
percent on the night from the free-throw line and 44 percent from the field.
Speedy guard Leslie Brown, a senior from Louisville, Kentucky and sophomore Darius Lane (D. Lane), co-anchored the offensive
attack scoring 17 points each. Brown grabbed 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2
steals and D. Lane was 3 for 6 from behind the arch and 11 for 14 from the
free-throw line. Lane is a native of Columbia, SC. Newcomer Lamont Robinson,
a speedy guard from Cincinnati, Ohio added 9 points on the night and forced
three steals and dished the ball off three times to improve his assists
category.
Kenneth Thompson scored eight points, and Marcus
Carroll and Benny Lewis scored seven to aid in the first conference
victory of the season.
