Two BC Baseball Standouts Received 2011 NCBWA Postseason Honors
Senior utility player Brandon Gipson was named a first team All-South Region and second team All-American selection by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). Senior first baseman Corey Bryant was named a second team All-South Region selection:

Gipson, a native of Detroit, MI, finished the 2011 season ranked nationally in several statistical categories including third with a .456 batting average, sixth with a .538 on-base percentage, and eighth with a .750 slugging percentage. The 6-5 catcher/third baseman also finished with a team-high 45 runs batted in and five home runs which ranked third and fourth, respectively, in the SIAC. He also ranked fifth nationally with 42 stolen bases and fourth nationally in stolen bases per game with one per contest while also scoring the third-most runs in the conference with 53.
Bryant, a native of Atlanta, GA, had three home runs and 35 runs batted in while batting .442 from the plate. He also had 21 stolen bases and a .730 slugging percentage. Bryant was also the SIAC Player of the Year as a junior in 2010.
Gipson and Bryant were also All-SIAC selections in 2010.
A panel of Division II media personnel and sports information directors selected the NCBWA All-America Team. To be eligible for NCBWA All-America honors, a student athlete must be selected as a first-team NCBWA all-region performer.

The Tigers finished the 2011 regular baseball season with a record of 31 - 12 (14 - 1 Conference, 1st place in the SIAC East Division).
On Saturday, April 23, 2011, the Benedict College Tigers defeated Claflin University 6 - 4 and 9 - 8 to clinched the 2011 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) East Division in Orangeberg ,SC.
Baseball Team is ranked #9 in NCAA Division II South Region Poll (as of 04/18/2011) and ranked #1 in Black College Baseball (BCB) Poll (as of 04/26/2011).
