[Columbia, SC] Four Benedict College baseball players were nominated to the 2005 NCAA ABCA/Rawlings “All South” Region Baseball Division II team. Dawan Browning, Kevin White, Robert Lowe, and Curtis Wragg were in the running to making this elite team. Browning and White were nominated for the outfield position, Lowe nominated as a catcher, and Wragg as a shortstop.
Dawan Browning (photo), a freshman from Willingboro, New Jersey, was the only player who made it to the “All South” Region 2nd team. Browning ended his 2005 season with the Tigers with a batting average of .420, 37 RBI’s, and 8 stolen bases. He also made the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conferences 1st team as an outfielder and designated hitter.
There were nineteen players from six SIAC schools that were nominated to the “All South” team. Of those nineteen, only two made it to the “All South” Region team; Kenneth McGaughty from Miles College and Benedict College’s own Dawan Browning.
