[Columbia, SC] Brookland Cayce High School (Cayce, SC) graduate Nathan Caldwell signed with the Benedict Tigers baseball team for the upcoming 2005-2006 school year, Nathan, a 6’1” 230 pounder was recruited as a First Baseman and Designated Hitter.
“He will have big shoes to fill after last year’s, starting first basemen, senior Richard Clendinen graduated, said, Derrick Johnson, head baseball coach at Benedict College.
Nathan graduated from Brookland Cayce with a 3.1 GPA, and was one of the leading players on the Brookland Cayce Baseball team. He recorded a batting average of .337, 8 home runs, 4 doubles, 3 errors, and a .975 fielding percentage.
“Nathan is a great addition to the 2005-2006 Tiger baseball team. He is probably one of the most knowledgeable and experienced players in the local area today. He has excellent speed and agility for his size and is fundamentally sound defensive and at the plate. We’re excited to work with him on the diamond in the near future, said, Coach Johnson.
While attending Benedict College, Nathan will major in Business Management in hopes of becoming a sports agent someday. He is looking forward to the challenging years ahead at Benedict, both on the Baseball filed, and in the classroom.
