August 5, 2011
[Columbia, SC] Frank Hyland, Benedict College Head Track and Field Coach, completed the USA Track and Field (USATF) Coaching Level 2 Program on July 16, 2011. The week long program held on the Campus of Georgia Institute of Technology, provided coaches with a more advanced, in-depth knowledge in one event group of their choosing. Hyland received his Level 2 Certification in sprints, hurdles, and relays. Applicants were accepted into this program based on experience level and coaching notoriety.
Course instruction was divided into two segments: sports science concepts and training principles. Hyland said, "This course was very informative and has helped me redirect my coaching and training initiatives. It has given me a more in-depth understanding of the philosophy of training athletes as well."
