Benedict's Selwyn Brandon Young signs pro contract with the Newark Bears

Former Benedict College player, Selwyn Brandon Young, has signed a professional baseball contract with the Newark Bears of the CanAm League.
Young, a native of Los Angeles, CA, batted .345 with two HR and 40 RBI in 52 games as a junior. This season, the 5-11 second baseman/shortstop batted .349 with no HR and 41 RBI in 43 games, earning All-SIAC first team honors.
He was a part of a Benedict College program that led all NCAA baseball in stolen bases as a team over the last three seasons. Young had 45 stolen bases in 54 attempts over the last two seasons.
Young is the son of Benedict College Head Baseball Coach Selwyn Young.
